FINE:12 - 1429 15/7 Thomas Danyell - commitment to master John Lyndefeld, archdeacon of Chichester, master Henry Penwortham, Roger Henyton and William Burys - by mainprise of Robert Whatton of the county of Kent, 'gentilman,' and Thomas Danyell of the county of Middlesex, 'gentilman' - of the guardianship of all the temporalities of the bishopric of Chichester which pertain to the king by the death of John the last pastor of that place; to hold the same from the time of the death of the said John for as long as the temporalities shall remain in the king's hand; provided always that they answer at the Exchequer for the moneys and profits forthcoming thereof - by bill of treasurer - vacated on surrender, since the king on 1 April 8th Henry 6 committed the guardianship of the said temporalities to the said John, Henry, Roger and William, to hold the same under a certain other form, and so these letters are cancelled - see Calendar of the Fine Rolls Henry-6/XV/273.


FINE:13 - 1430 5/1 Thomas Danyell - commitment (with like clause) to Brian Sandford of Thorpalvyn, county York, esquire, and Nicholas Keneton - by mainprise of Thomas Danyell of Besewyk, county York, 'gentilman,' and Robert Dunham of Derlyngton, county Nottingham, 'gentilman' - of the keeping of all lands, woods, meadows, feedings, pastures and mills in Whitwell, Belgh, Barleburgh and Cressewell, county Derby, which Randulph Rye held in his demesne as of fee on the day of his death of the heirs of Philip late lord of Derby, a tenant of Henry 5 in chief by knights service, minors in the kings ward; to hold the same from the time of the death of Ranulph for as long as the premises shall remain in the king's hands by death and by reason of the minority of the said heirs, rendering yearly the extent thereof, or as much as may be agreed upon between them and the treasurer by Trinity next - by bill of the treasurer - vacated on surrender, since the king, on 28 November 9th Henry 6, committed the keeping of two-thirds of all the lands, woods, meadows, feedings, pastures and mills aforesaid to Katherine Rye and John Vyncent, and so these letters are cancelled - see Calendar of the Fine Rolls Henry-6/XV/302.

FINE:15 - 1430 1/4 Thomas Danyell - commitment (with like clause) to master John Lyndefeld, archdeacon of Chichester, [master] Henry Penwortham, Roger Henyton and William Burys - by mainprise of John Cichele, grocer, of London, and Thomas Danyell of the county of Middlesex, esquire - of the guardianship of all the temporalities of the bishopric of Chichester, with all appurtenances, which are in the king's hand by reason of the voidance of the bishopric by the death of John the last bishop; to hold the same from the time of the death of the said bishop for as long as the temporalities shall remain in the king's hand for the cause aforesaid, at a yearly farm of 650 marks, provided always that if any other person shall be willing without fraud to give more by way of increment, then the said farmers shall be bound to pay such larger sum, if they will have the guardianship; as the said farmers have agreed with the treasurer to render the sum of 650 marks a year for the guardianship of the said temporalities, and have surrendered in the Chancery for cancellation the letters patent of 15 July last [see above] whereby the king committed to them the guardianship of the said temporalities from the time of the death of the said John, the last pastor, for as long as the same should remain in the king's hand, provided that they answered at the Exchequer for the moneys and profits forthcoming - by bill of treasurer - see Calendar of the Fine Rolls Henry-6/XV/323.

FINE:30 - 1446 17/10 Thomas Danyel - grant to John Stodagh of Lancastre (to whom the king by letters patent lately committed the keeping of all the lands in the town of Scotford, county Lancaster, which came to the king's hands after the death of John, late duke of Bedford, to hold the same from Michaelmas 15th Henry 6 for 24 years at a yearly farm of 7l [Calendar of Fine Rolls Henry-6/XVI/290]) during which term Jacquetta duchess of Bedford, as appears of record in the Exchequer, has been endowed of a third part of the said lands) - pursuant to the surrender by the said John Stodagh of the said letters into the Chancery for cancellation to the end that the king should be pleased to grant to him, in the following form, the remaining two-thirds of all the said lands in the said town of Scotford, excepting a tenement or cottage lying within the said town in a certain place called 'Halewaterryse Grevys,' 22 acres of land, arable and waste, adjacent to the said tenement or cottage, and 3.5 acres of meadow lying within the said town, whereof 2 acres lie in a certain meadow called 'Baleriggemedowe' and 1.5 acres in divers other meadows adjacent to the said town - of the said two-thirds of the lands aforesaid, with exceptions as above; to hold the same from Michaelmas next for 5 years, at a yearly farm of 6 marks 6s 8d: with a further grant to Thomas Danyel, the king's esquire, of the aforesaid tenement or cottage lying within the said town of Scotford in the place called 'Halewaterryse Grevys,' the aforesaid 22 acres of land, arable and waste, adjacent to the said tenement or cottage, and the aforesaid 3.5 acres of meadow lying within the said town, whereof 2 acres lie in the meadow called 'Baleryggemedowe' and 1.5 acres in divers other meadows adjacent to the said town; to hold to the same Thomas, his heirs and assigns, from Michaelmas next for 99 years, rendering 6s 8d yearly at Michaelmas for all service and demand; the fact that express mention is not made here of the true yearly value of the said tenement or cottage, lands and meadows, or of any gifts or grants heretofore made by the king to the said Thomas notwithstanding - by privy seal - dated by authority of Parliament - see Calendar of the Fine Rolls Henry-6/XVIII/47.
