The following pedigree shows Thomas Danyell, Lord of Rathwire, and his family as being descended from a junior branch of the Daniells of Tabley.
It is to be found on CHESHIRE/136. It was copied from
HARLEIAN/1535/111b. It has the virtue of being very detailed and being different from later and clearly
wrong pedigrees. However the early part of the pedigree looks impossible and that does not inspire confidence in the later part. The interesting
bit is the claim that Thomas Danyell Lord of Rathwire was son of George Danyell of Cherrytreehurst.
ORMEROD/584 says that Cherry treehurst was a hamlet and small manor which with other lands in Lymme was held
for several centuries by the Daniels of Tabley. I believe this tree confused Thomas Danyell Lord of Rathwire with Thomas Danyell of Cherry Tree
Hurst who died in 1493 - see ORMEROD/2/364.

In many official documents Thomas Danyell Lord of Rathwire was said to be son of William Danyell of Daresbury. Later documents said he was son
of a Thomas Danyell of Daresbury. Thomas Danyell was generally unscrupulous, so quite capable of inventing an ancestry if it suited his purposes.
However it is worth considering the Daresbury family as possible ancestors. The following pedigree shows the Daniells of Daresbury. It was found
on CHESHIRE/137. It was copied from HARLEIAN/1535/113 and refers
to the Visitation of Cheshire 1580 page 71. The pedigree closely resembles the pedigree in HOWARD. However
the Howard pedigree probably confuses Thomas Danyell, Lord of Rathwire, with Thomas Daniell of Daresbury.

The following pedigree shows descent from Elizabeth Danyell sister of Thomas Danyell, lord of Rathwire. She became notorios (was mentioned in
various state papers and court cases) when her brother involved her in his confidence trick on Henry Woodhouse. Note that one of her

also given on MAGNA/562.

The following pedigree is that found in HOWARD. At some points it closely follows the pedigree of the
Dalyells of Daresbury given above. It has probably confused Thomas Danyell, Lord of Rathwire, with Thomas Daniell of Daresbury. It also has a
major mistake in the middle where it combines two John Daniels (father and son) into one person - the John Daniel aged 20 in 1611. A less
significant error may be the reference in the pedigree to Rhodes. Howard interpreted knight of Rod to be a knight of Rhodes. It may simply mean
knight from the Rode area in Cheshire.

The above pedigree was followed in HOWARD by the following pedigree. Clearly Howard thought that the two

connection. George Daniel in the following pedigree was almost certainly the younger son of the James Daniel (aged 8 in 1611) in the above
pedigree.
